Since 2006, the Health Council of South Florida (HCSF) coordinated the Coalition’s meetings in partnership with the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County. The Miami-Dade County Healthcare Preparedness Coalition (MDCHPC) was a Florida Region 7 healthcare coalition, which represented the 34 hospitals and various other medical and healthcare facilities in Miami-Dade County for the specific purpose of emergency preparedness planning and response. Through the partnership, the Coalition aimed to ensure all members were prepared to respond to a disaster and coordinate a regional approach to community-wide emergency planning. Its founding members include the 34 Miami-Dade County hospitals, Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County, Miami-Dade County Office of Emergency Management, and county police and fire departments. The MDCHPC meet five (5) times per year with leadership provided by three (3) Co-Chairs representing the clinical, administrative, and public health facets of healthcare emergency management and had three committees: Steering Committee, Clinical & Ethical Committee, and Exercise & Training Committee
